Harry and Hermione decide to find a new camping area due to noises they hear. They make camp in a snowy forest. As Harry is on lookout and Hermione sleeps, Harry sees a bright silver light appear in the form of a doe. It walks away from him and Harry follows. The doe leads him to a frozen pool of water, where Harry sees the Sword of Gryffindor at the bottom. Harry, who is once again wearing the Horocrux, strips off his clothes, breaks the ice, and jumps in to get it. The locket twists around his neck, suffocating him.
