Chapter 17

When Bones dropped Cat off at her apartment, Tim was there to greet her. It was immediately obvious from Bones’ glare that he was suspicious or jealous of him or both. He was rude to Tim and Cat made him apologize. After Bones’ drove off, Tim asked if Bones was her boyfriend and commented that he didn’t seem to like him very much.

After class that evening, Cat took a shower and went right to bed; she was exhausted. There was a knocking on her door. It was her mother. They had plans to go to the movies but Cat forgot. Cat begged off and promised to make it up to her. Justina saw that Cat had no food and that she looked very pale. She asked if she was drinking blood. Cat assured her mother that she wasn’t turning...
