II Berlin 1992 Pages 21-41 Summary

It's 1992 and Sid is packing for a trip he's leaving on the following day when Chip comes by to visit. Sid has lived in the flat for forty years, the first five with his wife Lola before she died. Sid and Chip are returning to Berlin for the first time after leaving it behind decades earlier. They are going to do interviews for a documentary about Hieronymous Falk, their old friend Hiero, who died after leaving a concentration camp.

When Chip arrives, he tells Sid he has something Sid isn't going to believe, just as it was hard for Sid to believe that the Berlin Wall fell. Chip tells Sid that Hiero isn't dead, but alive and well living in Poland, and that Hiero has been sending Chip letters. Sid questions Chip's sanity and how he knows...
