Summary

In Chapter 20, Gwendy arrives at school to find some students crying. A friend tells her that some girl killed herself by jumping off the Suicide Stairs. Even before she learns for sure it was Olive, Gwendy already senses it is her. Gwendy goes home and locks herself in her room.

In Chapter 21, at midnight Gwendy pulls into the parking lot at Castle View Recreational Park. She believes Olive’s death was her fault because she did not remain the girl’s friend. Even though they had eventually made up from their fight, Gwendy had not gone out of her way to spend time with Olive because Olive was just too sensitive.
