Summary

In the first chapter of section two, Chapter 19, Pearl revealed that Mr. Don’t Come Back, the runaway that Margot had let stay in their car, had been the one to shoot Margot. Noelle went to Pearl’s school to pick her up and deliver the news. She walked her home and told her what had happened. When they arrived, a woman from CPS was waiting to take Pearl away. Pearl packed a bag and took the gun Eli had given Margot and her grandmother’s wedding dress. They got in the car and drove away. Pearl looked through her file and saw that her mother had been shot twenty times by Paul Luke Matthews, who had gotten a gun from Eli in exchange for his silver belt with an Eagle on it before shooting Margot and himself.
