Part 1, Chapter 2 Summary

The emperor comes out to observe him with his court and he is almost thrown from the little horse he is riding because the movement of Gulliver scared it. The emperor orders that Gulliver be fed. The men are very cautious to stay out of his range while delivering the food. Gulliver describes the emperor as having olive complexion, about 30, and adorned with many jewels and gold. The emperor keeps his distance and his sword out in case Gulliver decides to try anything. The two speak to each other but cannot understand what each other is saying. Gulliver tries to talk to the emperor and his subjects in all languages that he knows. However, none of them can understand any of the languages. There is a large group of commoners.....
