Summary

Chapter 8 is titled “Big Fight.” The title page shows Sarah and Dog Man fighting with Grampa, still disguised as Crud. Lil' Petey and Petey are eating and Lil' Petey is still questioning Petey's relationship with Grampa. Petey finally says that Grampa abandoned Petey and his mother at a time when Petey's mother was sick. Lil' Petey asks if Petey's mother got better and Petey just looks sad. Petey then says that “Sometimes bad things happen … and you just can't forgive … and you can't forget” (127). Petey sits on the floor so that he and Lil' Petey can hug. Lil' Petey knows hate causes problems but cannot think of any problems hate has solved.
