Summary

One day, David and Meghan go to a Celtics game together. David begins a slow clap similar to how his father began a wave at the Red Sox game. During the game, player Reggie Lewis collapses and is later diagnosed with a dangerous heart condition. At school the next day, Marlon is absent. David is freshly angry that he was put on the wait list for Boston Latin, and he thinks about the oppression suffered by the Jews. He tells Ms. Ansley about his grandfather’s life experiences, and Ms. Ansley invites David’s grandfather to speak to the class.
