Chapter 54 Summary

It is time to execute their plans. They are going to row their boat to the steamers aimed at Hamburg and Rotterdam, which would give them two separate chances. Provis is ready with a boat-cloak and canvas bag, looking live a river-pilot. Along the way, they take their breakfast at a public house when they hear about a four-oared galley lurking nearby. The landlord thinks it is Custom House men. Just as they are about to leave for the steamers, they see a four-oared galley shoot out from another bank and heads for them.
