Pip arrives in London, and he stops at his guardian's. He waits awhile for Mr. Jaggers to come out. Still waiting, he takes a walk by Newgate, the prison. A drunken minister of justice shows him where the gallows is and the places where the unfortunate are publicly whipped. He does not seem to like the prison environment. Other people are waiting.....
