Pip returns to Havisham's home. The clock is stopped at twenty minutes to nine o'clock. He goes across the courtyard and meets three ladies and gentleman in a room. Estella teases him, asking him if she is pretty, if she is insulting. On the staircase, he meets a strange man with a prematurely baldhead and busy eyebrows, somehow striking. Then he goes to see Miss Havisham, who asks him if he is willing to work. This means he is going to assist her in walking. She points to a table that once hosted an uneaten bridal feast and tells Pip she will be laid out there when she is dead. He goes back to play again with Estella at Mrs. Havisham's. There he meets a pale, young gentleman who challenges him to fight,.....
