Chapter 34 Summary

Bull is in the cockpit enjoying a night flight that will satisfy his monthly flight time requirement. He thinks how lucky he is to love flying after all these years. He stares at the moon and loses himself in the transcendent experience. Meanwhile, Ben and Mary Anne sleep in hammocks on the Meechams' upstairs veranda. Ben arises in the pre-dawn hours and walks to the dock, contemplating the river and all the wonders Toomer has shown him. He watches the town begin to wake up in the early morning light, and then returns to the house to get blankets for himself and Mary Anne.
