Chapter 26 Summary

Lieutenant Colonel Cecil Causey, Bull's friend and commander of rival squadron 234, calls Bull on a Friday afternoon to invite the two squadrons to meet for happy hour. Bull and Cecil had flown together in the Korean War, and Bull greatly admires his friend. Causey's face had been burned away because he chose to fly his burning plane away from an area populated by civilians. He bailed out only when the plane was clear of the urban area. The doctors had tried to reconstruct his face, but the right side of Cecil's face remains an immobile mask. Today, Cecil proposes the two squadrons bond in old school Marine style.
