Lieutenant Colonel Cecil Causey, Bull's friend and commander of rival squadron 234, calls Bull on a Friday afternoon to invite the two squadrons to meet for happy hour. Bull and Cecil had flown together in the Korean War, and Bull greatly admires his friend. Causey's face had been burned away because he chose to fly his burning plane away from an area populated by civilians. He bailed out only when the plane was clear of the urban area.
