Chapter 21 Summary

On the night of the first game, Lillian gathers her children to pray for Ben's success, and for him to be a good sport and make the family proud. When Ben arrives at the gym, the locker room talk is of that night's dance. Art "The Fart" has a date, and the chatter quickly degenerates as he starts chanting his hope to obtain some "nookie." Coach Spinks overhears this, and says that this is no time to be talking "'about some cheap piece of poontang.'"
