Chapter 18 Summary

On October 21, Bull's alarm goes off at 3 a.m. Lillian insists on making him breakfast before his "long hop." Bull asks how she knows he's going on a long hop, and Lillian admits she heard that Bull's squadron, the 367, is going on a mission to Cuba from the officers' wives club. Bull grumbles that the Joint Chiefs of Staff should be so well-informed as the officers' wives. Lillian pumps him for more information, but he insists the mission is classified. She wheedles confirmation from Bull, who insists she keep her voice down so the kids don't hear. Lillian teases him that Matt stopped selling secrets to the Kremlin at least a year ago. She grows serious and tells Bull she realizes he could be in combat later this very day. Bull.....
