Bull often misses meals, but he surprises Lillian by arriving home in time for dinner one night. During dinner, he announces that he has arranged a date for Ben. One of his fellow Lieutenant Colonels at the base is concerned about the boy his daughter Ansley has been dating, a punk named Jim Don Cooper. Ben has been drafted as Ansley's date as part of her parents' plan to break up her and Jim Don. The Meechams have known the Matthews family for years, but Ben doesn't want to be set up with Ansley.
