Chapter 7 Summary

Bull wakes up at seven in the morning to the sound of a jet roaring overhead. He figures it's an F-8 by the sound. Bull mentally plans the day. He will order his family to finish unpacking and straightening the house, but he will allow them another fifteen minutes of sleep while he lights a cigar. Lillian stirs in her sleep and smiles when she smells the familiar cigar smoke. Bull considers the importance of ritual to a family while he smokes. Rituals help keep sadness at bay. Bull doesn't tolerate poor morale amongst his men or his family.
