Chapter 4 "Sarsaparilla to Sorcery" Summary

The next day at school, Gilly meets Agnes Stokes. Agnes tells Gilly that the whole school heard about Gilly beating up six boys. Agnes thinks they should be friends. Gilly is suspicious, and turns down Agnes' invitation to get together after school.

When Gilly arrives home, there is a postcard waiting for her from her mother, Courtney. It is brief, but says what Gilly has been hoping to hear. Her mother loves her and misses her. Immediately, she begins to plan her escape to California.
