Blackmountain

Blackmountain is Grace's home, where she lives with her mother, Colly, and her half-siblings. It is hilly and desolate, with only a few houses scattered about. She thinks often of it when she is on the road, and yearns to return home. When she finally does, however, she finds the house abandoned and covered in moss.

Rathmullen

Rathmullen is the town Grace and Colly go to at the start of their journey, because Sarah told Grace to go there and ask for Dinny Doherty. They do not find Dinny, but are told to go home because the town is beginning to fill up with hungry people looking for work.

Donegal
