Points of View

One of the most interesting stylistic methods in this book is the shifting of points of view. At one time, we see through Mr. Tom's eyes; another time we see the world through the child Willie's eyes. Sometimes, there is a brief view through George's eyes, one of the children of the village. Once in a while, one sees through Zach's eyes. Another time, the reader sees through the eyes of the constable. At yet another time, we see through the eyes of the schoolteacher. Once in a while, one even sees through the eyes of Sam the dog. Although this may seem to create a lack of stylistic coherence, it is actually a charming and effective part of the book.
