Chapter 13, "Carol Singing" Summary

Willie is vigorously and effectively practicing his part as Scrooge, when George comes to the door, wondering at whom Willie could be shouting. Willie tells him he's just memorizing and rehearsing lines. George invites Willie to join him at the choir singing rehearsal and reminds him to get there early enough, because it is Mr. Tom's first time playing. When they enter the church, Willie notices that Mr. Tom is scowling, but he smiles at him, because he knows that Mr. Tom is making that bad face, because he's shy. Adults and children together have joined into this rehearsal, which Tom is conducting. He plays through "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," but no one is singing. When he inquires why, they say that they were just listening, because he played so.....
