Summary

Good Company opens in June, 2017 in Los Angeles, as Flora Mancini is searching everywhere for a family photo she will frame and present to her daughter Ruby that night as a high-school graduation present. Flora has had recent success with her voice-over acting role on a popular animated series, and her husband Julian Fletcher still has a good part on the police drama that was the original impetus for the family's move to Hollywood several years earlier. Flora thinks of how the cramped Brooklyn apartment where she had grown up felt like a shrine to her late embittered, domineering mother Josephine's limited achievements in a life of otherwise unfulfilled theatrical dreams, and remembers how Josephine always made a point of belittling Flora's confidence about her own girlhood Broadway aspirations.
