Nick Dunne: The Night of Summary

Nick continues to drink at his sister's house. He finally catches a short nap right before dawn. When he wakes, he has a little hangover. He drives Go's car to his house to change clothes, and finds three police cars there. Velasquez escorts Nick upstairs to pack some clothes. He asks if he can open the gift wrapped box from Amy to him, but Velasquez says not right now.

When Nick arrives at the police station, Amy's parents are there clinging to each other. He thinks about how the Elliotts are very affectionate with each other, while his own parents divorced when he and Go were 12, and how his father was emotionally abusive to his mother. Nick explains that his father didn't like women in general.
