Chapters 21 - 25 Summary

Rod's first stop on his underground tour is Joseph's station where he finds the man diligently sweeping. Rod notices the dust on Joseph's upper lip and berates him for not using enough water before sweeping and Joseph promises Rod he will do better making a show of getting the hose out. When Rod leaves, he turns it off again, because it is harder to sweep wet than dry. He chuckles to himself. Next, Rod stops to watch Big King and promises to get him back in the stopes before the end of the week. When Rod reaches Johnny's station, Johnny asks if Rod can get rid of his boss boy for him. Rod asks the boss boy if that is what he wants as well, and he admits he is happy to go if his assistant can be transferred with him...
