Chapters 6 - 10 Summary

Dr. Stander removes Frank's arm in less than five minutes, but before thirty more minutes have passed, Frank dies of shock. Shortly after the funeral, Rod is summoned by Manfred Steyner to come to his house. Shortly before his meeting at eleven, Rod arrives in Johannesburg. He finds the Steyner's home and drives through the gates where he gets his first surprise. The gardens are spectacular. He rounds a corner to find Teresa Steyner in her gardening clothes cursing the stink bug that bit her. He compliments her efforts, getting a smile for his, and she takes him up to her husband. Dr. Steyner begins his meeting with Rod by recapping his career to date. Manfred acknowledges Rod's accomplishment before continuing. He exposes every secret Rod has before telling him that he will use all of his considerable influence to ensure that Rod be appointed...
