Summary

Rory inspects a jelly jar filled with formaldehyde and a human eyeball. It is the eye that his mother gouged out of one of her attackers years ago. Rory knew that Granny had it, so he demanded to see it. After looking at the eye, Rory says that Asa was not one of the attackers. Rory leaves the house, and a little later, two scientists arrive at the house. They ask Granny if they can take samples from the tree in her yard. They say that the tree is an American chestnut, and endangered species that they wish to help save. Granny lets them take samples. The scientists also say that they have a secret side project breeding new strains of cannabis. Later, when Rory returns, he asks about Granny and Bonni’s past.
