Summary

In Chapter 5, Zoe and Adrien arrive at the Surface and she is stunned and frightened by the bright light, openness and tall buildings. They enter a car and as they drive, Adrien explains that his mother is not connected to the Link, which seems impossible to Zoe. His father died working for the Resistance, or Rez, and now Adrien works for them although it makes his mother nervous. They arrive at the city gate and Adrien says it will be a short trip if his mother was unable to contact the Rez.
