Introduction Summary

Denise Shipley is the author of the novel introduction of the book. Denise is a sophomore in college when she hears of the school shooting at Middletown High School. She talks about how when she heard about the shooting, she went to Middletown to try to figure out what happened. She says she interviews people that want to talk about the school shooting. In fact, some are so eager to talk that they are even hunting her down to talk about it without her having to track them down. She says the stories that are in the following chapters come from the words of those she spoke with and interviewed. By the end of the shooting rampage, Gary Searle, one of the shooters, was dead from a bullet to the brain.
