Chapters 9-10 Summary

In Chapter 9, Skye leaves Jessica's house in the morning, before either of the other girls wakes up. She ponders whether or not she can ever really know someone. She also thinks about her and her mother's house, which she loves, and how much work she personally has done to make it so beautiful. When she arrives home, her mother is not there, but Skye finds a pamphlet left for her about surviving ritual abuse. With the possibility of childhood abuse in mind, Skye imagines re-telling her life to Jessica.

Skye resolves not to call Riley or Jessica in Chapter 10, but Jessica later calls to apologize and says she is coming over. However, she does not arrive until three hours later. Then, she reveals that she has a brother who is in jail. Jessica falls asleep, and the girls go to bed...
