Apartment Building

The apartment building where the action of the play takes place is symbolic of the split between the way people present themselves publicly and the truth of their private existence. This is symbolized in the set itself in which the audience can see the literal outside public world of the street but can also view inside certain rooms of the apartment building to view the private reality of the characters.
