Chapter 14 Summary

The summer is over and Patty returns to school, where she has trouble concentrating. After school, she goes to the family store and sees her parents, Sister Parker, and several customers watching Sharon dance and sing. Everyone loves the show. Her father laughs and says that he thinks Sharon is as good as Shirley Temple and that he has thought of taking her to Hollywood. Sharon sees Patty and runs up to her. Patty tells her in a mean voice to leave her alone.

She runs away and kisses her ring for comfort. She decides to wear her ring for everyone to see. She shows Sister Parker first.
