Part 5 includes the chapters “Dear Family,” “How to Be a Transgender Indie Rocker,” “A Cautionary Tale,” “How to Be Gay When the Gays Won’t Have You,” “Many Moons," and “Drag Failure.” The page before “Dear Family” starts is an illustration of Ivan wearing a flannel cape with a triangle on it that says the letter “I” as they rescue a cat from a tree. “Dear Family” is told from Ivan’s perspective and starts with a letter they wrote to their family on July 8, 2013.
