Section 11: Freak the Geek Summary

Hoover Preparatory School for Girls has a large number of traditions which Lauren hates. Therefore, she is furious when someone walks past her and her best friend, Kayley, and whispers "freak the geeks" (p. 275). Each year, the entire class votes on two geeks to harass for one day, and this year, Lauren and Kayley have been chosen. They hurry to Lauren's car to find it surrounded by fifty girls and a paintball gun. They run away, through the woods, losing the rest of their class. Lauren jokes about the term freak usually being used sexually, and Kayley adds that perhaps their classmates want to do sexual things to them.
