Point of View

This novel is written in the form of a personal journal so it makes sense that it would be written from the first person point of view. Though Gabi’s story would be just as compelling told from the point of view of a third person narrator, the reader would not feel as strong a connection to Gabi. Because she is writing in her journal, Gabi writes exactly the way she feels about things going on around her. Gabi is able to present herself as a whole person with hopes, fears, talents, and a desire to be a different type of woman than her mother and her aunt. The reader becomes familiar enough with Gabi that he celebrates with her when she gets accepted to Berkley, mourns with her when she discovers her father dead in the garage, and cheers her on when she attacks...
