Summary

October 20: Ms. Abernard, Gabi’s poetry teacher, assigned her students to write poems about death, horror, or ghosts. Gabi decided to write about her late grandfather. Later that day, Gabi’s father announced that he was going to get sober. Gabi is happy but writes that she is not going to get her hopes up. She writes a letter to her father telling him she is proud of his decision.

October 21: Gabi is upset when she learns that her father does not intend to go to rehab but again wants to try to get sober on his own.
