Summary

Chapter Six begins the next morning after Jeremy has eaten an early breakfast at the lodge and has left Cloudwater to drive to Pike Hollow. During his drive, Jeremy narrates how he regrets promising Jessup that he would ask around the town. However, since Jessup had asked him as a personal favor and they were to have dinner together later that night, he could make a slight effort then report he had found nothing which would then allow him to get on with finishing his monograph.
