Espionage

The main characters in this novel are all spies for different countries. Tatiana and Grant, as well as Klebb, work for Russia. Bond and Kerim work for Britain along with M. These characters spend their lives working in foreign countries and attempting to learn things about the other countries that can help their own governments. These spies are allowed to do whatever they need to do to protect themselves and to keep enemies from hurting their government. This includes killing people. In fact, Grant is a professional killer whose sole job is to kill those people who threaten to harm his country. It is this idea that sends Grant after Bond and provides a large portion of the plot for this novel.
