Chapter 120 Summary
It is December 5, 1986 and Evelyn has been at The Forever Slim Lodge in California. She has been there for two months and has lost twenty-three pounds. She had gained much more than she lost. She found a group of women like her at the lodge. Evelyn has become popular with the other women at the lodge. The women think she is funny and has a cute accent. She is enjoying her celebrity and has made three special friends. They plan to meet once a year after leaving the lodge. Evelyn knows they will. Ed sends her mail regularly and today she receives a letter postmarked from Whistle Stop. It is from Mrs. Threadgoode's neighbor, Jonnie Hartman. She informs Evelyn that Ninny has passed away. Before she died, she gave her neighbor some items that she wanted Evelyn to have. After reading the letter, Evelyn doesn't feel cute anymore...
