Chapter 106 Summary
When Evelyn comes to visit Mrs. Threadgoode on September 22, 1986, she finds her asleep in the lounge. Ninny looks her age and Evelyn is frightened. She wakes Mrs. Threadgoode and hands her a barbecue sandwich and lemon icebox pie. Ninny asks her if she got it at the café, but Evelyn tells her she made it herself. Ninny hands her a nickel and asks Evelyn to get her a Coke. Evelyn tries to give the nickel back, but Ninny won't take it.
Mrs. Threadgoode tells Evelyn that no one can sleep because Vesta has been keeping them up all night calling the president and the mayor and making a lot of noise. The nurses took her phone away, but Vesta hasn't noticed and still makes the calls. Ninny has been dreaming of her family and they ask her to join them in the dreams. She tells Evelyn she will...
