Chapter 70 Summary

Evelyn Couch is visiting Mrs. Threadgoode on May 11, 1986. She has carrots and celery instead of candy today. She tells Mrs. Threadgoode that she is on Weight Watchers. Ninny doesn't know why because she thinks Evelyn is beautiful. She was just telling Mrs. Otis that Evelyn has such beautiful skin she should be selling Mary Kay cosmetics. She tells Evelyn that Essie Rue was heavy, but she still looked great. Essie Rue played the organ and played the organ in the Alabama Theater.

Evelyn thinks she is too old, but Ninny tells her she's still a baby and if she were Evelyn's age, she would try to earn the pink Cadillac. Evelyn asks Mrs. Threadgoode what it feels like to get old......
