Chapter 59 Summary

On April 27, 1986, Evelyn is again visiting Mrs. Threadgoode. She asks Ninny when Ruth came back to Whistle Stop. Ninny tells her that one day in 1928 or 1929 a letter arrived for Idgie. Mother sent Big George to find Idgie. The letter was a torn bible page from the book of Ruth. Idgie asks her mother what it means and her mother tells her it means Idgie and her brothers need to go to Georgia and get Ruth. The next day, they go get her. Evelyn asks if they ever divorced, but Ninny doesn't know. She does know that Frank came to Whistle Stop once and it was one time too many. He was the one who was murdered.
