Chapter 29 Summary

This chapter takes place in the Wagon Wheel River and Fishing Club in Warrior River, Alabama. The date is August 30, 1924. It is located eight miles south of Whistle Stop. Idgie had been going there with Buddy since she was eight years old and when he died, she went down there to tell Eva the news because Buddy loved Eva. She was easy and made him feel like a man. Although she wasn't the kind of girl a boy would bring home, Buddy brought her to dinner on a Sunday night. All the boys would make jokes about her, but not in Buddy's presence. Like her father, she didn't care what anyone thought about her. Big Jack Bates was a bootlegger.
