Chapters 44, 45, 46, and 47 Summary

Upon arrival in Lyme that evening, Charles heads to Aunt Tranter's house after checking into the White Lion. Ernestina is engaged in embroidery, when Charles enters the sitting room. She shows him the watch pocket that she is working on for him. Ernestina chastises Charles for not bringing flowers, but her mood brightens, when he produces a coral and gold brooch with carved flowers. The two kiss and Charles begins to reveal his encounters with Sarah on the Ware Commons.

The author states that this is the end of the story and provides updates on all the main characters. Charles and Ernestina marry but are not all that happy, with Charles surviving Ernestina by a full decade. Sarah never bothers Charles again, and her whereabouts are unknown. Charles' uncle has.....
