Frances Price

Frances is one of the two main protagonists of the novel, a 65-year-old woman who has just been told that the remainder of her substantial fortune is almost gone and she must move out of the apartment where she lives with her son Malcolm. Frances has a history of scandal, as she was made fodder for the tabloids when she discovered the dead body of her husband Franklin and went on a ski trip without informing the authorities of his demise. She is a well-known Manhattan socialite, and well-regarded for her glamour and wit.
