Summary

This chapter opens during September 11, 2001, on Joey’s campus. The narrator explains that after the attacks, Joey felt a sort of resentment towards the terrorists for ruining some of his college experience, and that he thought that the way people mourned was stupid. Later, Joey had been thinking about breaking up with Connie. Meanwhile, she rode on a Greyhound bus to spend a few days with Joey. The weekend of her visit was full of sex and drugs. Joey recommended that Connie take the SAT so she could go to school, while also taking a break from speaking to him. She left and soon after, Joey received a call from Carol.
