Chapter 3 Summary

Annabel's first responsibility as her mother is to make the family breakfast. Annabel makes fried eggs for her father, something she learned to make years before. However, when Ben asks for scrambled, she bullies him into eating cold cereal because she does not know how to make anything but fried eggs.

Annabel begins to wonder if her mother is now in her old body, or if her mother went off somewhere else, like to be the Queen of England. Annabel goes to her own bedroom and finds herself there reading a comic book and eating marshmallows. Annabel cautiously asks herself what she wants for breakfast, and by the girl's reaction, Annabel is certain her mother could not be in that body.
