Frank Li aka Sung-Min Li aka Frank Sung-Min Li

Frank Li is the narrator and main character of this coming of age novel. He opens his novel with the idea that he is two different people, Frank Li, his American self, and Sung-Min Li, his Korean self. After the experiences of his senior year in high school, which include his attempt to date a white girl, the discovery that his father is dying of cancer, and an argument between his father and a close family friend, Frank is able to reconcile his feeling that he has two personalities. He tells the reader that he has one name, indicating he is one person: Frank Sung-Min Li.
