Wynand presents Dominique with the drawings for the house, and Dominique immediately recognizes Roark's style. Dominique is distressed that Roark is coming to dinner that night. When he arrives, they pretend to be mere acquaintances. Roark talks with Wynand, and the men's natural affinity disturbs Dominique. Dominique brings up the Stoddard Temple. Roark dismisses it as water under the bridge.
Wynand goes to Roark's office to discuss their similar backgrounds. Roark's purity gives him solace. Wynand takes Roark to dinner, and Dominique realizes that she has no right to be with Roark but that her husband does.
Wynand forbids Toohey to write about Roark in The Banner. Toohey agrees easily, smiling. He says he has no need to write about Roark - for the present.
