Part 4, Chapter 2 Summary

Roark hates Wynand, who represents mindlessness professionally and has taken away Dominique personally. Still, Roark goes to meet him, prepared to reject Wynand's proposition. When the two meet, there is a moment of recognition that wipes all their previous knowledge of each other away. Wynand asks Roark to build a house in Connecticut, and Roark accepts. Wynand chooses Roark because of Monadnock Valley and Roark's other work. Wynand wants the home to be a fortress, confining and protecting Dominique through its perfection, a temple to her, so that he will not have to share her. Wynand feels that Roark's greatness matches his work. When Roark leaves, Wynand asks his secretary for all the material they have on Roark. Scarret tells Toohey about Roark's visit to The Banner. Both are concerned about.....
