Part 3, Chapter 8 Summary

Dominique and Wynand spend a secluded honeymoon in his penthouse apartment. She remains in isolation even when Wynand goes back to work, until she begins to enjoy it. Then, Dominique rejoins social life. A writer from The Banner interviews Dominique, but when the writer tries to submit her article, Wynand fires her. She writes it, instead, for New Frontiers.

Dominique prods Wynand about his paper's pandering. When he presents her with a diamond necklace, she says that the necklace came from pandering to the public's sordid curiosity about a murder. Wynand reverses the idea, saying that he transformed something sordid into diamonds.
